Junior Theater Festival

The Junior Theater Festival (JTF) is the world’s biggest and best celebration of young people performing musical theater.

JTF brings together student musical theater troupes from all over the world for a weekend of musical theater mayhem and madness. Each troupe performs fifteen minutes from a Broadway Junior®️ show for adjudication by a panel of musical theater experts. The weekend also features professional development for teachers, workshops for students and parents, a New Works Showcase featuring new musical adaptations soon to be released and concludes with a grand finale concert headlined by Broadway’s best!

The Junior Theater Festival is sponsored by Broadway Media, Playbill, Disney Musicals, and Music Theatre International.

JTF 2027 Information

  • Atlanta, Georgia – January 15, 16, & 17, 2027
  • All registered students will perform a 15-minute ensemble presentation with sections from Frozen Jr. It is an ensemble performance, not a solo recital.
 
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Part of the HART Theatre production of Frozen Jr in November 13-22, 2026 
  • Between the ages of 13 and 18 at the time of JTF
  • Still enrolled in school at the time of JTF
  • Partake in the production rehearsal and the JTF rehearsals.
  • Schedules will be shared after the Frozen Jr auditions.
 
CHAPERONES
  • Chaperones are JTF attendees and pay the same registration fee as students.
  • It is the household’s responsibility to plan for a Chaperone and inform HART Theatre of any
    arrangements at the time of registration. HART should be notified of any updates ASAP.
  • The Chaperone does not need to be the student’s legal guardian and can chaperone multiple
    students.
  • Students who are 13 or 14 year old at the time of JTF, are required to have a parent or
    legal guardian attend as a chaperone.
  • HART Theatre will only be responsible for students during JTF Events.
  • JTF stipulates a maximum of 4 students per Chaperone.
 
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
  • Payment due to HART will be $450 per attendee
  • This includes:
    • JTF registration
    • T-shirt for performance day
    • T-shirt for non-performance day
    • JTF provided t-shirts
    • Boxed lunch on Saturday & Sunday at JTF
  • Prices are the same for students and parents/chaperones.
  • Payment plans will be made available.
 
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED
  • Additional required clothing (black dance pants and black jazz shoes)
  • Travel to Atlanta and to the hotel to JTF 
  • Hotel Room (HART is working to block discounted rooms near the event)
  • Parking at hotel (if applicable) or at the Convention Center
  • Breakfast (HART is looking for a hotel with breakfast buffet included)
  • Dinners
 
LODGING
  • Group rates will be arranged at a nearby hotel by HART.
  • Parents are required to make the booking.
  • Estimate: self-parking: $25 – $35 USD per night, per car.
  • Our team will try to arrange for breakfast to be included in the hotel fee.
  • Rooms can be shared if you choose.
  • You are not required to stay in the group hotel.
